Safaricom launched M-Pesa Go for youngsters.

Safaricom, the major telecom provider in Kenya, has introduced a new financial product called M-Pesa Go specifically aimed at young people between the ages of 10 and 17.

M-Pesa Go would enable customers to send and receive money, acquire airtime and bundles, utilize Lipa Na M-Pesa services and access M-Pesa Super App branded as ‘M-Pesa Go App.’

CEO of Safaricom Peter Ndegwa has said that parents or guardians would be responsible for monitoring the service in order to help their children develop good financial habits.

Ndegwa said that today’s youth have grown up in a society where they have always had access to computers, the internet, and mobile payment systems and that they are looking for a sense of belonging and autonomy in this digital environment.

At the inaugural event, ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo was present.
