Sakaja agrees to gazette assembly sitting

Published on

The MCAs from the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party put pressure on Governor Johnson Sakaja for days, and on Wednesday he finally gave in and agreed to gazette the first meeting of the assembly for no later than Thursday of next week.

After ignoring the governor’s calls for meetings at his inauguration in Nairobi and again in Mombasa, the Azimio MCAs finally agreed to meet.

More than 50 of the 67 Azimio MCAs showed up to the meeting, and they all agreed that finding out when the City Hall leader plans to call the first sitting was the only thing on their agenda.

“The meeting prompted him to agree to gazette the first sitting. He had called us asking what the problem was and we gave him facts and made it clear that we had only one agenda and that was to be sworn in as fast as possible so that we can start executing our mandate as MCAs,” stated Kilimani MCA Moses Ogeto.
