On Thursday, Senators from the County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee in the Senate have called Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o to testify.
After a meeting on November 8 in response to Auditor General Nancy Gathungu’s report on the county’s financial accounts, the Senate decided to call Nyong’o for questioning.
For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021, he will be answering questions about the Kisumu county assembly automobile and loan mortgage scheme money.
The Senate has requested that Nyong’o brings with him to his meeting with the committee any supporting materials he plans to use.
Kisumu 42 ventures Limited, the Afri-Cities Convention Centre, and the Africities Conference that was hosted in Kisumu are all topics that the committee would need further information on from the county.
Between May 17 and 21, 2022, more than 3,000 local and foreign delegates met in Kisumu for the summit.
The governor must also detail the county’s funding sources, including the Lake Region Economic Bloc, as well as projects like the Kibuye market and the Kenyatta Sports field.
