The Governor of Kisii County, Simba Arati, has spoken out against the violent street battles that broke out on Saturday between two political factions in Kisii town.
Ten individuals were hurt in the fighting between pro-Azimio and pro-Kenya Kwanza youths.
During a rally in Kisumu, Raila Odinga, the head of the Azimio party, also criticized the violence.
The Kisii County Assembly wards, where the ODM youth had their offices, were vandalized, and one police officer was hurt as a result of the unrest.
When visiting the wounded at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, Governor Arati condemned the attack and demanded that Interior CS Kithure Kindiki investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The Governor has threatened to take matters into his own hands if the government does not act to protect citizens and their properties.
