On Monday, a six-story apartment being built in the Kirigit area of Kiambu County collapsed, killing two people and leaving others trapped within.

By 9 a.m. local time, the police and Kiambu governor Dr. Kimani Wamatangi at the scene had already retrieved two dead and rescued several casualties.

After several workers had already arrived at the scene, the building collapsed, according to the police.

Richard Mwaura, chief of the DCI in Kiambu, has confirmed that they are looking into the event.

The rescue of the victims is our top priority at this time,” he stated.

They have not determined how many people are still trapped within, and officials warn it may take longer to reach the bottom level.
