The cabinet has been called together by President William Ruto for a five-day retreat.

Emmanuel Talam, the press secretary for the State House, stated that the retreat would begin on January 5, 2022, in Nyeri.

The executive branch of government, which includes advisers and Principal Secretaries, is believed will attend the retreat.

The purpose of the meeting, which will be presided over by Ruto, is to endorse the administration’s economic reform plan, which is centered on priorities including job creation and food security.

The President said that the government is dedicated to rebuilding the economy in his New Year’s speech on Saturday in Mombasa.

According to Ruto, the government will not be afraid to take difficult choices to promote long-term economic development.

Taking away subsidies on necessities results in monthly savings of nearly Sh25 billion, he said.

The President also said that in order to reduce the nation’s borrowing load, the government was also putting a debt management strategy into action.
