The Court ordered IEBC to retain deputy CEO Kalundu.

    Published on

An injunction against IEBC deputy CEO Ruth Kulundu has been placed on hold by the Employment and Labour Relations Court.

On Friday, the court ordered Kulundu to keep working as usual until the case is heard and decided.

IEBC CEO Hussein Marjan allegedly had Kulundu interdicted because she helped the four opposing commissioners file the presidential petition.
According to the CEO, vice chairperson, Juliana Cherera, and the other three commissioners met with Kalundu behind the CEO’s back.

MPs headed by Ruaraka lawmaker TJ Kajwang said that commission chair Wafula Chebukati and CEO Marjan threatened the Deputy CEO because she refused to meet their requests.

Members of the Azimio la Umoja legislature, meanwhile, protested the discretion outside the commission’s offices at Anniversary Towers.
Lawmakers from AZIMIO and the Bunge la Wananchi held a demonstration outside the commission’s headquarters to protest what they saw as a witch hunt against Kulundu.

MPs from Azimo disputed that the claims were without merit, making Kulundu suspension unjust.
