Despite the tweets from General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of President Yoweri Museveni, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have insisted that no plans manifest to attack Kenya.
Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye, a spokesman for the UPDF, insisted to the media on October 5 that Muhoozi lacks the authority to declare war on any nation.
When announcing an invasion or any other military action, he continued, the trained Ugandan soldiers have communication channels that must be followed.
After Muhoozi was relieved of his duties as UPDF commander of the Land Forces, the spokesperson made the statement.
The army spokesperson also reaffirmed that despite the diplomatic mess Muhoozi’s remarks had created, Uganda will continue to seek to promote collaboration between the two nations.
