Police reported a fire incident in Nairobi’s Mukuru slums, which resulted in the death of a two-year-old girl, Charlene Adhiambo.
The remains of the minor were found after the fire had been contained, and more than 40 structures were flattened, rendering many homeless.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to help contain the fire, but the cause of the blaze remains unknown.
According to police, the minor was alone in the house at the time of the fire.
The body was taken to the mortuary pending autopsy while investigations continue.
Fire incidents have reportedly been on the rise in Nairobi, with at least three incidents occurring daily, and sometimes multiple incidents happen simultaneously, which stretches firefighting efforts.
