UDA MP Wants Winnie Odinga Fired from EALA for Missing Ruto Meeting

Only a few weeks after she was elected to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), Winnie Odinga may be the target of an expulsion move.

Gitonga Mukunji, a Manyatta Member of Parliament, said to the media on December 7 that he intended to introduce a vote of impeachment against Winnie after she failed to show up for a meeting called by President William Ruto.

Winnie, the daughter of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga, was accused of making a mistake by missing the meeting when the MPs were informed of Kenya’s agenda for the regional assembly.

It is obvious that Winnie Odinga was chosen by both the government and the opposition. She will be impeached for failing to show up for EALA regular meetings.

He said, “The President and the CS met with the elected MPs, and they were there to acquire the mandate of our stance at EAC.
At the Monday, December 5 meeting, Mukunji said he would want Winnie to be called to account for her whereabouts.

“We’ll give her a call and have her explain why she couldn’t make it to the meeting.” He said, “If she was gearing up for the Kamukunji rally, she had to go and do that.”

Winnie acknowledged that the meeting was missed since it was called at the last minute and added that she had other commitments.

“I believe that people are creating a big deal out of nothing. I was unable to attend the meeting since it was short notice,” she said.
