When former President Uhuru Kenyatta rewarded loyalists in his administration in April 2022, State House spokeswoman and media practitioner Kanze Dena Mararo declined the offer.
According to sources inside State House, Uhuru offered Kanze a position as an ambassador with Tomas Kwaka Omolo (Big Ted), Dennis Waweru (a former MP for Dagoretti South), and Bitange Ndemo (a former ICT principal secretary).
The former Citizen TV presenter, who was also the director of the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit, graciously refused the abroad position and asked to stay in Kenya.
While he did not elaborate on how Uhuru responded to Kanze’s decision, he did say that the President respected her decision and surprised her with another present.
“He surprised her with cash worth millions,” the source revealed, failing to give the precise amount Kanze got.
