Ukur Yatani: Treasury is NOT Broke

Published on

Ukur Yatani, the secretary of the Kenyan government’s Treasury Cabinet, has reprimanded political leaders who have claimed that the present admin has only found Sh93 million in the national treasury.

The DP Rigathi Gachagua have been on many occasions claimed that there’s no many in the treasury to enable them fulfill their agendas to Kenyans. Speaking on NTV interview, Gachagua claimed, “We inherited a shattered economic system. The bank vaults were pretty empty. There is a total lack of resources, and we must begin from zero. I have asked the people of Kenya to be patient with us because we have a plan but it cannot be quick because we have found an awful condition in terms of the economy.”

Mr. Yatani, claimed that remarks form the government officials that they found only 93 million was laughable and referred to it as ignorance.

The Treasury CS elaborated, “Government does not take money and store it in one place, keep it for one month, and afterwards disperse it after a few months or after one year.”

It’s hard for us to sympathize because of all the misunderstandings. Mr. Yatani noted that “the government does not collect and store money.”
