In an interview about the upcoming senatorial by-election in Bungoma, Wetangula admitted that a member of President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) was running for office there, but he insisted that the county was a Ford Kenya stronghold.
It was also stated by Moses Wetangula that some UDA legislators supported the Ford Kenya party candidate.
Moses Wetangula, speaker of the National Assembly, has stated his continued backing for the Ford Kenya party in the upcoming Bungoma senatorial by-election.
“I was elected to the party several times over the years in Bungoma, which is the region where Ford Kenya is the most popular. Didmus Barasa and the other members of parliament are behind our party candidate ” Wafula Wakoli said.
Wetangula had earlier suggested that the group would choose a single Kenya Kwanza candidate.
He said, “We know that Bungoma is our forte, and we shall defend it even in the coalition and our party would be actively involved in the campaigns to ensure that their candidate wins the seat.
Later, Kenya Kwanza saw the emergence of breakaway groups, with rumors circulating that Ford Kenya officials had demanded UDA withdraw from the election.
