Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, and Kalonzo Musyoka, the leaders of Azimio, have taken steps to end disputes that might destabilize the opposition alliance.
This comes after a period of intense squabbling inside the coalition, with Uhuru’s Jubilee and Gideon Moi’s Kanu both threatening to leave due to Raila’s ODM’s alleged abuse of them.
This comes after Senator Fatuma Dullo faced pressure from a segment of her party to resign as Senate Minority Whip after ODM narrowly beat Jubilee for a spot on the Parliamentary Service Commission.
On Monday, it was revealed that Raila and Kalonzo (head of the Wiper party) met with the Senate’s top brass to discuss the issues.
Meeting attendees were Minority Leader Steward Madzayo (Kilifi), his deputy Enoch Wambua (Kitui), Dullo, and her deputy Ledama Olekina (Narok).
To all Kenyans and the nation at large, “as Azimio in the Senate, we are one and working as a team,” Madzayo remarked after meeting with his principals.
On Tuesday, all the opposition senators will gather at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation with Raila and Kalonzo to try to resolve the lingering disagreements that have threatened to derail the alliance.
