William Chepkut, an ex-lawmaker for the Ainabkoi constituency, has died.

It was announced on Saturday, October 8, 2022, that the former lawmaker had passed away. Family members verified it.

First accounts had the lawmaker collapsing at his house and being taken by ambulance to a Nairobi hospital.

Despite medical staff’s best efforts, the lawmaker was pronounced dead at a Parklands hospital.

Chepkut spent two months in the hospital in 2021 following a fall at a city hotel in July of that year.

From 2017 until 2022, Chepkut represented his constituency in the parliament as an independent.

Samuel Chepkong’a of the UDA was able to defeat Chepkut in 2022.

Over 26,000 people voted for the incumbent, while only 13,000 voted for Chepkut.
